Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming has criticised Perak Legislative Assembly speaker Ngeh Koo Ham for being “too soft” in the handling the proceedings in the House.

Nga, who is Teluk Intan MP and Aulong assemblyperson, said the opposition had misused or exploited Ngeh’s discretion and it had taken as long as an hour to reply to an oral question.

“Their (opposition) behaviour is very bad, and it is obvious that their intention is not to ask questions but only to irritate.

“I noticed that in 40 minutes of the Question Time, only one question was answered. This shows that the opposition is not fulfilling its promise to be a constructive opposition,” he said at a press conference on the sidelines of the state legislative assembly meeting.

“Do not be too generous. I know he (Ngeh) is trying his very best to accommodate all the unreasonable requests made by the opposition,” he said.
