PARLIAMENT | Pakatan Harapan will retain the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) 2.0 and open it to more suppliers who will provide their products to the chain.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the ministry will continue to ensure that the chain really benefits the people by providing goods which are cheaper than those sold in other outlets.

“We are not obsessed about branding, but the reason for retaining KR1M is to provide goods which are priced competitively and cheaply for the people,” he said at the oral question-and-answer session at the Senate sitting today.

Saifuddin was answering a supplementary question from BN senator Suhaimi Abdullah who wanted to know KR1M’s status after the change of government from BN to Harapan.

He said that at present, there were 51 KR1M 2.0 outlets operating throughout the country.
