Rockets were fired early this morning in the direction of the only functioning airport in Libya's capital Tripoli, residents said.
Explosions could be heard near Matiga Airport, but it was not immediately clear who had fired the rockets, one of which could be seen hitting the nearby Mediterranean Sea without causing casualties.
A Libyan commercial flight from Egypt bound for Tripoli was diverted to the western Libyan city of Misrata, the airport said.
It said that all flights bound for Tripoli will be diverted to the Misrata airport.
