Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is unsure why no ministers were in the House yesterday when former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak debated the 11th Malaysia Plan midterm review.

However, he joked that maybe the cabinet was tired of listening to Najib.

"It's up to the ministers and MPs to listen or not listen. Everything will be in the hansard anyway and officers present will take notes, so I don't think it’s a big issue.

"So I'm not sure why they didn't listen, maybe they have listened (to Najib) too often. Whether they're tired of hearing it, or what, only God knows," Muhyiddin said when asked to comment on the incident.

He was speaking at a press conference in a Parliament meeting room today.

Yesterday, Najib shared a photograph on Facebook about how ministers and their deputies had "disappeared" from the House while he was speaking.

Muhyiddin said it was not unusual for lawmakers to address an empty Dewan Rakyat.

Meanwhile, Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran, who was also present at the press conference, said that with the current technology, ministers can keep tabs on what is going on in the Dewan Rakyat from their offices or anywhere in the country.
