Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has expressed unhappiness over the absolute lack of response from government MPs when he spoke about 1MDB at the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

"When I spoke about the facts behind the settlement between International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) and 1MDB, none of their MPs said anything.

"Even (the) Jelutong (MP) was quiet," wrote Najib on his Facebook page last night.

The Pakatan Harapan administration is currently challenging the terms of the settlement between 1MDB and IPIC that was sealed last year on grounds that the settlement was reached due to fraud.

When Najib was prime minister, details on the settlement were scarce and the then Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia had, on many occasions, stopped opposition MPs from questioning the government on 1MDB.

In an exclusive report yesterday, Malaysiakini revealed that Putrajaya has appointed a top barrister – David Pannick, QC – to challenge the settlement in London.

Meanwhile, in a separate Facebook post last night – one of three – Najib accused Harapan of attacking him and his family with leaked information.

"Through the media (organisations) that they control and certain officers who leak information, they are fabricating stories on the (criminal) cases against me and my family," he said.

For example, he said there were reports regarding the solar power project for schools in Sarawak, which is now the subject of a corruption trial involving his wife, Rosmah Mansor.

"The success of the project brought savings to the government and clean energy for the schools.

"Often, the good intentions of my family and I are manipulated and used to tarnish our image with criminal charges which have no merits," he said.

He said that now that he and his family members are facing trial, they are unable to defend themselves against the media reports.

"We risk being charged for sub judice and we will have to pay millions more for bail," he said.

He said it will take months before he could defend himself in court and therefore urged supporters and friends to be patient.
