Pakatan Harapan will hold a charity dinner event on Dec 9 to raise funds for the ruling coalition.

Harapan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is the organising committee chairperson, said in a statement posted on the coalition’s website that the event will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) from 7pm to 11.30pm.

"The purpose of this charity dinner is to raise funds for Harapan for its operations, management and activities.

"The dinner will be attended by Harapan's top leadership," Wan Azizah, who is also deputy prime minister, said.

There are a total of 177 tables for sale, classified as diamond, gold, silver and bronze.

According to Wan Azizah, 22 gold tables are priced at RM7,000 each, 52 silver ones at RM5,000 each, and 71 bronze tables will go for RM2,000 each.

The prices for the diamond tables are yet to be decided.

"The organising committee of the charity dinner will be honoured to have some help in selling the tables, for the sake of Harapan," she said.

This follows Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement on Oct 5 that the coalition's financial situation was at a critical level, and it needs to come up with ways to stay afloat.

The prime minister said the coalition was trying to devise a formula to raise funds while ensuring corruption does not take place.
