Love, or loathe him – Rafizi lauds Najib's tech-savviness

Rafizi Ramli believes that former premier Najib Abdul Razak is more social media and tech-savvy compared to most Malaysian politicians.

“Hate or like him, by talking and engaging, his social media presence has the highest traction (by far) compared to anyone else,” tweeted the former PKR vice-president.

Rafizi, who said he was merely pointing out a fact, hoped that the “die-hard fans and haters” do not extrapolate anything out of that statement.

“His social media has had a leading traction for a while already. And no one in Pakatan Harapan seems to be bothered,” he added.

The former premier has about 3.5 million followers on Facebook, over four million followers on Twitter, and over 500,000 on Instagram – and each of Najib’s social media accounts had been verified as his by the respective platforms.

He regularly posts his views on various current affairs on Facebook - often several times a day - which are then re-posted on his Twitter account.

These cover a broad range of issues, including allegations of impropriety by him and his administration such as the 1MDB scandal.

The Facebook posts generate thousands of reactions and hundreds of comments, including from those voicing support and those criticising him.

Najib is less active on Instagram, but it is where he shows his lighter-hearted side, such as the antics of his cat Kiky.
