The government is hoping to finalise who will be accorded seats at the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) table by the end of the week.
Referring to several vacant high profile roles, including that of director-general, Gobind Singh Deo stated that the newly appointed Finas board of directors met on Monday to discuss the matter.
The communications and multimedia minister added that he would be meeting with the board soon.
"The board of directors and a group of advisors have been appointed.
"By the end of the week, we will have another board member, adviser, chairperson, director-general, and deputy director-general," he said.
Once all roles have been filled, Gobind assured that Finas would be able to carry out its duties as intended.
Members of the film industry – primarily directors and producers – previously expressed their concern over the vacant posts, stating that the Finas acting director-general had limited authority to approve certain matters, such as film grants.
Finas was previously chaired by Slim assemblyperson and Perak Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member Khusairi Abdul Talib.
Khusairi vacated the role a week after Pakatan Harapan formed the new central government, however.
Former director-general Fauzi Ayob, meanwhile, was replaced by Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Shakib Ahmad Shakir as acting director-general last October.
The ministry's deputy secretary-general, Fairul Azida Shahabudin, was appointed acting deputy director-general of the film corporation, replacing Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib.
