Majority of Sabah PKR divisions support state chair appointment

Fifteen PKR division heads in Sabah today expressed their full support for the leadership of state PKR chairperson Christina Liew who was reappointed to lead the party in the state.

Putatan PKR division head Awang Husaini Sahari who represented all 15 divisions said the support was expressed by the division heads via their signatures which were handed to the State Leadership Council (MPN).

"The move was taken to deny the action of certain groups who attempted to oppose the decision of the appointment made by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

"This is our final statement in response to all the talks that alleged there were Sabah PKR divisions which rejected Christina Liew's appointment as Sabah PKR chairperson,” he told reporters in Kota Kinabalu today.

Also present were PKR division heads from Papar, Batu Sapi, Tuaran, Kota Belud, Kimanis, Kinabatangan, Labuan Federal Territory, Sipitang, Semporna and Kota Marudu.

Awang Husaini said so far only 11 division heads were rejecting the appointment thus proving that Christina received the majority support of 15 divisions.

He said a memorandum from the 15 division heads had also been sent to support Christina besides ensuring party stability and that of the new Sabah government led by Parti Warisan Sabah in collaboration with Pakatan Harapan.

"As such, we urge that the party president and leadership take disciplinary action against party members disputing the decision of the Meeting of the Political Bureau chaired by the president on December 14,” he added.
