PAS hands over accounts to MACC
PAS has handed over all its central-level bank statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to facilitate investigations into allegations that the party had received RM90 million in funds that originated from 1MDB.
The party’s secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said this was done upon the request of the MACC.
“The central PAS accounts provided start from 2015, which is before the date mentioned by an article alleging the RM90 million bribe (August 2016), up to the latest (statements).
“PAS is confident that the disclosure of these key documents will help MACC conduct their investigations freely, transparently, and professionally.
“MACC would also surely announce the findings of their investigations because many interested parties have long waited for it,” Takiyuddin said in a statement yesterday.
The website Sarawak Report had previously alleged that former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak had paid PAS leaders RM90 million to secure their support for BN and Umno, and the money had originated from 1MDB.
Both PAS and Najib have dismissed the allegations.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had sued Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown over the report, but they subsequently agreed to an out-of-court settlement that allowed the article to remain in place.
Shortly after the settlement, Bernama reported that the MACC launched investigations into the claim, after receiving a police report lodged by a member of the public.
Several current and past PAS leaders have since been called up for questioning.
According to a source close to the MACC investigation yesterday, the MACC has established that no 1MDB money had been channelled into PAS’ accounts.
However, it has yet to be established whether the commission has finished scrutinising the bank accounts of individual PAS leaders.
Don't think anyone so stupid to put their money into the PAS official accounts, definiteely not MO1. Instead the MACC must trace the money used to buy the expensive cars, bungalow etc !
After learning about paper trail Najib would have given Hadi Bawang cash for distribution lah. So stupid to bank rm 90 m into pas account?? MACC can’t be stupid to fall for that?
Hey Takiyuddin, stupid see, stupid follow! You're fooling yourself. Who on earth will bank in the 'tainted' RM90m into the party accounts and left behind mountain of evidences? Even Umno says the RM116.7m cash found in Pavilion Residence raid by police belongs to the party?
