Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has denied Sarawak Report's allegation that he paid RM90 million to PAS.

"I didn't give money to PAS, that's why PAS has sued Sarawak Report. We will wait for the decision (of the suit), now (Sarawak Report editor) Clare (Rewcastle-Brown) is gelabah (uneasy).

"We didn't give RM90 million to PAS but I can't comment (on this further) as the case is still in court. This is all rubbish but they included it to besmirch us," Najib said.

The prime minister said this in his closing speech at Umno's national social media convention at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

Rewcastle-Brown in an article had suggested that PAS received RM90 million from Najib.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has since filed a defamation suit against her in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Najib also denied claims that he had brought "baskets of cash" during his trip to the United States in September.

"I heard that I supposedly met (US President Donald) Trump and brought baskets of cash, which was supposedly the reason why Trump escorted me to the car.

"I didn't bring baskets of cash... (that is) crazy," he quipped.

In explaining his statement to Trump that the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) planned to invest in the US, Najib pointed out that such a policy had been put in place before he became prime minister in 2000.

"Profit in the US is at 11.1 percent while profit in the country is at seven percent, which one is more profitable?"

Najib also insisted that he did not meet Trump to ask for a pittance.

"We came as a successful country that can even invest (in the US) while other countries have to ask for loans.

"We told Trump that we have succeeded, we have succeeded because of Umno's struggle," he added.

Reiterating that he did not pay a consultant to meet Trump, Najib cited his claim that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad had done so in the past.

"But he did not answer a word on this. I know who paid it and I know how it was paid.

"It's up to Trump to send me to the car or not. If you went to the US and the president didn't send you to the car, that's your problem even if you had paid," said Najib.

As usual, Najib did not mention Mahathir by name but the reference to the previous US trip made by a prime minister was hard to miss.

Right after his return to the country from the US trip, Najib had claimed that Mahathir had paid lobbyists millions of ringgit to see then US president George W Bush.
