If needed, DAP will campaign in Malay areas - Guan Eng
SEMENYIH POLLS | DAP will join Pakatan Harapan's by-election campaign in the Malay areas of Semenyih if it is requested to do so, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said today.
"If it is needed for us to enter the areas as requested by the Harapan candidate, (Muhammad Aiman Zainali), then we will go," he told reporters when met at Dewan Seri Cempaka, where the candidate nomination process took place earlier today.
Lim was quick to stress, however, that DAP has been demonised by some quarters which harp on racial issues...

Lim was quick to stress, however, that DAP has been demonised by some quarters which harp on racial issues.
"They play up racial issues, so we have to emphasise national unity.
"So, it depends on the situation. We would like to campaign in areas where we have influence and (enjoy) strong support," he said.
Nevertheless, Lim said, DAP will help as much as it can, as all Harapan parties are under one umbrella.
In the run-up to last year's general election, DAP's presence was hardly felt in predominantly Malay areas, as the party is often painted as being anti-Malay and anti-Islam by its detractors.
'They are coming'
PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, meanwhile, dismissed speculation of an internal rift due to the absence of Rafizi Ramli-aligned party leaders from Semenyih.
"I am sure they are coming, because this candidate is Harapan's candidate," he said, adding that the 14-day Semenyih by-election campaign period has only just begun.
Neither PKR president Anwar Ibrahim nor Youth chief Akmal Nasir were present as Harapan Youth launched its machinery for the campaign last night. As Azmin explained, both leaders were away.
On another matter, Harapan election committee chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that the ruling coalition would not make voters any promises during the campaign period.
"We will not make any election promises, because the would violate election laws as claimed by the Election Commission.
"But local issues (have been brought our attention), and we acknowledge these local issues," he said.
