Hisham sees good support from PAS despite Hadi-Dr M meet
SEMENYIH POLLS | Former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein today said he had no idea as to what was meant when PAS said its cooperation with Umno for the Semenyih by-election would not be the same as during the Cameron Highlands polls.
"I don't know what happened but what I am seeing down here today, one day after (nomination day) is that the relationship between UMNO and PAS remains good.

"I don't know what happened but what I am seeing down here today, one day after (nomination day) is that the relationship between UMNO and PAS remains good.
"If you ask (Umno leader) Shahidan Kassim, he would say (our relationship is) better when compared with the Cameron Highlands (by-election)," he said.
"I am happy with the (level of) cooperation (between us)," he added.
Earlier today, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said his party will continue to work with Umno but said that its commitment for the upcoming Semenyih by-election will not be the same as witnessed during the Cameron Highlands polls.
Meanwhile, Selangor PAS election director Roslan Shahir said there was no instruction from the PAS leadership for them to withdraw their support for Umno.
"In fact, the joint committee of Umno and PAS will continue to meet tonight and the meeting will be co-chaired by Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Takiyuddin.
"This is the highest level for a meeting," he said, adding PAS' commitment was different this time around because Harapan fielded a Malay candidate for Semenyih while a non-Malay candidate was fielded in Cameron Highlands.
He said PAS nevertheless has pledged to help BN garner an additional 10 to 20 percent of votes on top of the 6,996 votes it obtained in the 14th general election.
PAS supporters are happy with BN candidate Zakaria Hanafi, according to him, he added.
Roslan said the Islamic party was trying to arrange for its president Abdul Hadi Awang to campaign in Semenyih.
"If not the president then at least the deputy president (Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Mat) will come," he said.
