A senior citizen has been arrested after allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad in a Facebook post.
Pahang police chief Mohd Zakaria Ahmad said the 68-year-old man was picked up by a team of police officers at his house in Mentakab this morning.
"Yes, police have arrested a man this morning. He was picked up to facilitate investigations following a police report lodged in Batu Pahat, Johor.
"The man will be handed over to the Batu Pahat police for investigation," he told Malaysiakini when contacted today.
Social media has been abuzz with screenshots of the allegedly offending Facebook post being shared multiple times by users.
Several individuals and organisations proceeded to lodge police reports, prompting action against the post.
