Aiman cries sabotage over 'ang pow' scam

This comes two days after unknown parties spread rumours at Kampung Bahru Semenyih that Harapan would hand out RM100 ang pow to each resident.
The distribution did not happen, and Aiman later issued a statement that Harapan would not be handing out money to lure voters.
Aiman opined that some quarters were instigating the voters to hate him and the ruling coalition by spreading the fake news which led to disappointment amongst the large crowd which queued up.
"I felt that this may be the case (sabotage) due to the acts that we see. It is moving in this direction," he told a press conference at the Harapan operations centre at Kampung Bahru Semenyih today
Harapan will take action and lodge a police report, he added.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that villagers waited for hours at an eatery near the market of Kampung Bahru Semenyih after word spread they would each be given RM100 cash.
Aiman said he hoped to see the by-election conducted in a clean and fair manner.
The 30-year-old was accompanied by Selangor Bersatu information chief and Kuang assemblyperson Sallehudin Amiruddin and Selangor exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah.
Sallehudin, meanwhile, firmly denied that Harapan and Bersatu had circulated inflammatory campaign material (above) highlighting the scandal surrounding former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.
"We, in fact, didn't know (about this) until last night when we were informed of the circulation of these leaflets. They did not come from the main operations centre of Harapan.
"We saw that the leaflets were circulated throughout Semenyih and banners were hung. We want to deny that they came from our main operations centre," said Sallehudin.
'Limited copies'
This morning, Aiman was also quoted by the Malay Mail denying that Harapan had circulated inflammatory campaign material.
However, a check by Malaysiakini found two leaflets at one Harapan operations centre located at one of the 23 polling districts.
One leaflet, bore the words “Malaysians, don't forget” and “Stole billions, not a lie”, together with an image of handbags and cash confiscated from Najib-linked residences last year.
The back of the leaflet depicted Rosmah's collection of valuables. The other leaflet carried a caricature of Najib's “Bossku” social media persona, but with the word “Thief”.
A party worker said they took the leaflets from the headquarters of the 23 polling districts, while the main operations centre sits at Bandar Rinching Seksyen 5.
"We obtained limited copies of these leaflets and we have no plan to use them," said the worker.
"Najib has become a key opinion leader and he is very popular on social media. It is better to highlight our track record," said the worker.
Several banners bearing the words, “We are not thieves, we are not liars and we are not robbers” were seen along Jalan Semenyih.
