Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun, whose contract is set to expire this May, is mulling his options post-retirement.
“I am single so maybe I will get married soon. There are many things I can do.
“Maybe I will sell durian by the roadside or plant durian trees.
“Please take photographs of me and buy durians from me if I end up selling durian,” he quipped at a press conference in Cheras today.
Elaborating, Fuzi said that he, along with other top police personnel who are also slated to retire this year, will “happily” leave the force when the time comes.
“We have to have self-realisation when the time comes. If you have to go, you have to go. There is no problem and do not speculate about it,” he said.
Fuzi, who turns 60 in May, was appointed as the IGP in September 2017, replacing Khalid Abu Bakar.
A day after he retired, Khalid was appointed by the then-BN administration as chairperson of state-owned transport management firm Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.
Khalid resigned from the position in July last year after Pakatan Harapan came into power.
Among those speculated to succeed Fuzi is Bukit Aman Special Branch chief Abdul Hamid Bador.
Deputy IGP Noor Rashid Ibrahim is also expected to retire next month.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has been speculated to take over from Noor Rashid.

Fuzi has been a much better IGP than his two immediate past predecessors. Give credit where it is due. He has helped to oversee the peaceful transition of power from BN to Pakatan after GE 14 in spite of attempts from several quarters to derail Pakatan’s GE victory. There are always people who can only see negatives but turn a blind eye to positive things done. It is hope that he has a happy and productive retirement.
