Police urged to take swift action after Hindu idols found at Klang surau
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa has called on authorities to take swift action and put an end to alleged attempts to stoke religious tension.
This follows the reported discovery of two Hindu idols placed on the wall of the Sabilul Huda surau in Klang, just three days after a statue of a deity, also known as 'Datuk Gong', was found outside its entrance.

"So once again I would like to stress that police must take swift action because if we allow this matter to continue, it could trigger a lot of provocation.
"We don't want to see our country being tarnished by such acts," he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year event hosted by the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association in Subang Jaya.
"Whoever is responsible, I hope they will be arrested soon to show our commitment to protect the sanctity of places of worship, particularly mosques and surau," stressed the de facto Islamic affairs minister.
Under probe
Utusan Malaysia reported yesterday that the two Hindu idols were spotted at about 2.15pm by a woman who was on the way to attend religious classes. She proceeded to lodge a police report on the matter.
Klang Selatan police chief Shamsul Amar Ramli was quoted as confirming that two small statues, measuring approximately 10cm in height, were found at the surau.
"We do not reject the possibility that this act was committed by someone with an unsound mind (kurang siuman)," he reportedly said, adding that investigations are ongoing under Section 295 of the Penal Code.
The provision pertains to defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion.
Selangor Perkasa president Borhan Ahmad Zakaria had previously said the first discovery of a statue at the surau was an insult to Islam, adding that certain quarters were out to create racial tension in Klang.
