A total of 75,352 government pensioners will receive a one-off RM500 special payment starting tomorrow.

The Public Service Department (PSD) in a statement, said the assistance was in line with Budget 2019, which was tabled on Nov 2, last year, and it was for pensioners who were receiving pensions of less than RM1,000 a month.

“The government’s concern in implementing a one-off assistance of RM500 is expected to provide comfort and fulfil the needs of pensioners involved,” it said.

PSD said the list of eligible recipients was identified in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (JHEV) to ensure the one-off assistance was paid to eligible pensioners.

It said a thorough vetting process was carried out through various agencies, including the Inland Revenue Board (IRB); the Employees Provident Fund (EPF); the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (JANM); state treasurers; the Social Security Organisation (Socso); the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and Road Transport Department (RTD).

It said pensioners with inquiries could call 03-8885 4648/4432/4667 on weekdays from 9am to 5pm or email to [email protected] for information.
