Zuraida: PM, royalty spat at a level different than Harapan allies'
Bersatu's Pakatan Harapan allies beside Bersatu have yet to come forward to defend Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his ongoing spat with Johor royalty because they are at "different levels".
This was the explanation given by PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin during a group interview held at KLIA2 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Harapan administration.
Bersatu's Pakatan Harapan allies beside Bersatu have yet to come forward to defend Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his ongoing disagreement with Johor royalty because they are at "different levels".
This was the explanation given by PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin (above) during a group interview held at KLIA2 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Harapan administration.
"I think the exchange between TMJ (Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim) and Tun (Mahathir) is on a different level. So I don't think we (Harapan allies) should be coming into play.
"Let Tun handle the sultan (Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar) and when it comes to our time, we will handle the sultan," said the housing and local government minister.
According to her, the exchange between the premier and the ruler had escalated to a "war".
"It is a different level, war, I should say between Tun and TMJ and the royalty for that matter. So let it be," she said.
"Let them settle it at their level," she added.
Among others, Mahathir and Johor royalty have recently disagreed on the ratification of Rome Statute of the ICC and the appointment of the Johor menteri besar and state executive councillors.
Mahathir retorted that only the people could decide on whom they wanted as prime minister, this after Tunku Ismail's remark of calling for the premier to be replaced.
