Emulate Japanese attention to detail - PM
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has urged Malaysian youths to emulate the Japanese in terms of their attention to detail.
Speaking at the launch of the Malaysia Future Leaders School today, Mahathir said Japanese attention to detail had allowed them to produce products and services of exceptional quality.

Speaking at the launch of the Malaysia Future Leaders School today, Mahathir said Japanese attention to detail had allowed them to produce products and services of exceptional quality.
"This culture of having attention to detail is ingrained in their daily lives, not just work," he said, during the launch at Universiti Malaya today.
Mahathir said Japan and S Korea ought to be considered role models for Malaysia because their societies had advanced due to discipline, patriotism, focus on quality and inculcating positive values.
The Future Leaders School, said Mahathir, was inspired by its Japanese counterpart and established by the Youth and Sports Ministry. Mahathir said he has spoken (below) at the school in Japan every year since 2003.
"Every time I speak, I'm given a specific topic. But it is all related to leadership and good values needed in a leader. I believe such a programme is needed in Malaysia because it can bring about 'future-ready' leaders in various sectors," he said.
Previously, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman had said that the Future Leaders School will replace National Civics Bureau and eventually the national service programme.
The first batch will involve some 200 of the best students from across the country who will join a 12-day course designed by Khazanah Nasional Bhd and accounting giant Ernst & Young.
The students will also receive placements with elected representatives, ministries and leading companies.
