'Datuk Seri' caught on camera punching restaurant owner over FB row

A restauranteur, who was purportedly assaulted by a businessperson with a 'Datuk Seri' title and a group of men over a Facebook dispute, claims that police have not made any arrests despite the incident being captured on CCTV.
However, Wangsa Maju police chief Rajab Ahad Ismail said the case involves numerous witnesses and cannot be rushed.
“We will arrest and charge him ('Datuk Seri') soon. The investigation papers are almost completed,” he told Malaysiakini this afternoon.
Rajab said the case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

The victim, Lau Chan Ming, 53, told Malaysiakini the incident took place at a condominium in Setapak, in the wee hours of Monday morning. He lodged a police report on the alleged assault the same day.
According to the report sighted by Malaysiakini, the complainant said he sustained injuries on his neck and face.
Lau, who runs a restaurant business abroad and occasionally returns to Malaysia to visit his family, said he became acquainted with the businessperson on Facebook.
Both do regular Facebook live sessions and have garnered their own following.
Lau said the businessperson and he often exchanged arguments on Facebook and this had happened for years.
However, he did not reveal what prompted the attack.
"Recently, the 'Datuk Seri' found out I had returned to Malaysia, and he knew where I was staying through his network of friends," Lau told Malaysiakini.
He claimed that on the day of the incident, a group of men wanted to meet him and he agreed to do so in order to settle the issue in an amicable manner, but a heated argument broke out.
"So I halted the discussion and went home. Several hours later, I came down from my condominium and I was cornered by them," he said.
The CCTV footage shows several men surrounding Lau. An argument ensued before he was assaulted, with one of them punching the restauranteur repeatedly in the face.
Another clip shows a man, believed to be the 'Datuk Seri', alighting from his car and walking towards Lau. He then punched Lau in the face.
Malaysiakini is withholding the name of the 'Datuk Seri', who deals with properties, as no charge has been filed against him.
