Mohamed Azmin Ali said today that the PKR leadership should explain why those who circulated sex videos implicating him had the contact numbers of all branch leaders.
The PKR deputy president said even he did not have access to such information.
"Certainly, this is something alarming; the leadership must take full decision to investigate.
"These WhatsApp groups (that circulated the videos) contained all the contact numbers of the branch chiefs and also the lower-ranked office-bearers at the branch level," he told reporters after attending a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house for the Gombak Setia state constituency.
"I do not have access to that information. So, the question now is: who provided this information and established these WhatsApp groups?
"They have a group for Sabah, a group for Sarawak and a group for the peninsula, so this warrants the leadership to explain."
Azmin said this in response to a question about several PKR members accompanying Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz when he was released from police custody yesterday.
Haziq had previously claimed in a video that he was one of the two men in the sex videos first disseminated to media personnel and PKR members on Tuesday. He named Azmin as the other.
Azmin, the economic affairs minister, also said he had received a report that said those who circulated the videos were avoiding Facebook and Instagram to prevent their IP addresses from being tracked.
When asked whether he would push for the PKR disciplinary board to take action, he said it is up to them to decide what is best for the party.
"If we want to ensure that the party is still relevant and acceptable to the public, then something needs to be done," he said.
Azmin also reiterated that he has no intention to take leave from his party and government posts as he has "done nothing wrong."
He had previously denied Haziq's allegation, calling it a "character assassination" aimed at putting an end to his political career.
