Police do not consider Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, who is at the heart of a sex video scandal implicating Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, as a flight risk.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur today, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Mazlan Mansor said that his officers have an "agreement" with Haziq.
"We have an agreement (persetujuan) with him and he gave his full cooperation," he added.
The Santubong PKR Youth chief was released on police bail last Saturday without travel restrictions, a day after he was detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Haziq is being investigated under various sections, including for carnal intercourse.
Mazlan also said investigations into the matter are ongoing but declined to divulge details in order to avoid a trial by media.
"Police have received 17 reports and recorded 21 statements," he added.
'No need for foreign experts'
Asked if the police would enlist international experts to help ascertain the authenticity of the sex videos, Mazlan said there is no need for that at present.
When pressed on whether Azmin's statement has been recorded, the DIGP only reiterated that "the investigation is ongoing."
Azmin came under the spotlight after Haziq claimed that he and the minister were the individuals shown in the sex clips, which were first disseminated to the media and PKR members last week.
The minister, who is also PKR deputy president, has denied the allegation, calling it "character assassination" aimed at putting an end to his political career.
