Anwar: Nobody takes 'Azmin a better PM' author seriously

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed a manuscript for a book which says that he cannot be the next prime minister and that his deputy Mohamed Azmin Ali is more qualified for the post.
In a press conference at PKR headquarters today, Anwar said Yahaya Ismail, the author of the manuscript, is a mercenary writer whose books never made it to the mainstream.
As such, he said nobody takes Yahaya seriously and what he has written does not warrant a response.
"Many of his previous sponsored books were never discussed in the mainstream," Anwar said after chairing PKR central leadership council and political bureau meeting this evening.
He added that these books were also not discussed by intellectuals and academics, or appeared in book reviews.

On June 19, PKR Sungai Petani MP Johori Abdul revealed that the writer was negotiating for a higher price than what he was offered for the book.
Johari (photo) also pointed to Chapter 15 of the book, "Mengapa Anwar tak boleh jadi PM (Why Anwar cannot be PM)," which he said promoted another leader whom the author felt was more qualified for the post.
Although he did not mention the name of the leader, the title of the chapter reads “Azmin Ali bakal PM (Azmin Ali next prime minister).”
The author had denied extortion and claimed he was merely trying to negotiate for a higher price than what was offered by parties interested in publishing the book.
PKR had lodged a police report against Yahaya.
Elaborating on the matter today, Anwar said he would leave it to the party and the police to act accordingly.
Such political culture which strives on extortion should not be tolerated, said the Port Dickson MP.
PKR would not call Azmin on sex videos
On another development, Anwar said PKR would not call its deputy president Azmin Ali to explain on the sex videos and his remarks related to the scandal.
"We are not interested in questioning or discussing the content," he said.
Azmin had accused PKR members of circulating the sex videos which implicated him with Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.
Since the scandal broke out on June 11, he did not attend the three political bureau meetings and the party leadership council meeting today.
"I think (Azmins's) attendance is a separate issue. I don't think it is fair at this juncture to question him during this difficult time," Anwar said.
Earlier today, PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir who chaired the wing's political bureau meeting and PKR Youth leadership council meeting, said the party has accepted the disciplinary action taken against Haziq.
