Aminuddin was referring to a standoff between protesters and police inside the mosque last Sunday, as preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin was about to deliver a sermon.
He also questioned why Wan Ji was allowed to do so after being convicted under the Sedition Act 1948 for insulting the Selangor ruler.
"We can't stop (him), but if the incident in Malacca happens again, don't only blame one side.
"People say the demonstration is wrong, but the mosque management and the ustaz (Wan Ji) insisted on holding the sermon," he told journalists at a function in Kuala Lumpur today.
Last Sunday, more than a dozen police officers stood guard inside the mosque when protesters, organised by the Malacca chapter of Ummah, tried to disrupt Wan Ji's sermon.
The group eventually relented and moved outside the mosque.
Wan Ji had claimed the disruption was due to him being critical of PAS, but Aminuddin believes the sermon was intended to provoke the Muslim community.
"For me, I don't think he is operating alone," he added.
