Primary school children across the country will be served free healthy breakfast daily beginning in January 2020, the Education Ministry has announced.

Minister Maszlee Malik said a proper eating schedule would ensure students have balanced meals, which in turn would allow them to focus on their studies.

“The Education Ministry cares about students’ dietary aspect and is constantly mobilising various important initiatives to ensure our children’s stomachs are filled with nutritious food.

“In line with that, the ministry will be launching a free breakfast programme for primary school children across the country, beginning in January 2020.

“Through this programme, students will be prepared delicious breakfast based on a healthy menu, and it will be free,” Maszlee said in a statement today.

He added that his ministry would continue to explore ways to ensure children attend school “with joy”.
