Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin believes Perak Menteri Besar Faizal Azumu was sharing his personal experience about waging a lone battle against DAP.
Speaking a press conference in Tanjung Piai, Muhyiddin said he is not aware of the full details and has not been briefed about the matter.
"I think this was a matter of personal experience, because whatever it is, he is the menteri besar and DAP is a key partner in Perak," he added.
Muhyiddin, who is also the home minister, said he would speak to Ahmad Faizal to get a clearer picture.
Responding to a question, the Bersatu president said he hopes the video issue would not hurt Pakatan Harapan's chances in Tanjung Piai by-election.
He said numerous DAP leaders have hit the campaign trail because this is about Harapan and not any particular party.
"This is an isolated case," he added.
Muhyiddin was commenting on a viral video, in which the Perak menteri besar spoke about his struggle to defend the land of the Malays and Islam.
“In Perak, I am fighting a desperate battle alone against 'puak-puak' (factions) DAP.
“I want to defend the land of the Malays, I want to champion our religion. (But) I do it, slowly. 'Alhamduillah' (thank God), my Umno friends (in Perak) do not scold me like this,” he added.
Harapan's candidate Karmaine Sardini was also spotted in the video.
Ahmad Faizal has since claimed that his remarks were taken out of context and denied there is a rift with DAP.
"I was saying that I’ve gone through a lot in Perak and there are DAP leaders who run me down.
“What is important is that we all work closely together," he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Ming said he will bring the matter to the attention of the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.
