Warisan man puzzled why Najib well-received in Kimanis

"I was just wondering, a person who has got cases in court, can come here and act like he is the boss and people still vote (for BN)," he said.
"And that to me is irony, isn't it ?" Karim told media at the by-election nomination centre today when asked on Najib's arrival in Kimanis yesterday.
The former prime minister had taken a swipe at the government, criticising the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway project and the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS) issue.
"Someone who has got cases to be tried in the High Court of Kuala Lumpur, he comes here and the people still said 'Bossku'. What sort of rubbish is that?" questioned Karim further.
He, however, said Najib was not a concern for him in this by-election.
Najib arrived in Membakut and visited the Pan Borneo Highway, which cut through several northern Sabah seats, including Kimanis.
He had described the highway as abandoned project and accused Pakatan Harapan as blocking BN's effort to develop Sabah.
The Pan Borneo Highway project, a distance of 1,236km and costing RM12.86 billion, was launched by Najib in April 2016. It was reported on June 29 that the Works Ministry would take over the project by the end of September.
Last month, the government reappointed 11 contractors and 12 consultants for the Sabah package of the project, who were appointed through the project delivery partner (PDP).
When met later in Kimanis, Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal rebuked that the project was abandoned as claimed by Najib.
He said the cabinet had abolished the PDP as requested by the state government after they found out that the highway was purportedly managed by a consultant that was linked to the then Umno Youth secretary.
"We now have a new structure where the state secretary will be heading the body that monitors (the progress of the highway project)," Shafie said.
Representatives from the Finance Ministry and Works Ministry at the federal and state levels will sit in the body as well, he said.
