Lawyer charged with insulting modesty of ex-minister's former aide
A lawyer accused of insulting the modesty of a former aide to a former minister has been charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrates' Court today.
The charge meted out was more than six months after a police report was lodged on the incident which allegedly took place during a legal fraternity dinner.

The lawyer, Sivaraj Retinasekharan, was charged under section 509 of the Penal Code for an alleged attempt to insult the modesty of Chong Yin Xin - who is also a former lawyer - by uttering profanities towards her.
According to the charge sheet, Sivaraj was accused of committing the offence at the first floor of a hotel in Petaling Jaya on June 22 last year.
When contacted, Chong's lawyer Esther Tan said Sivaraj was released on RM3,000 bail, with an order to not disturb the victim and other witnesses.
Magistrate Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir has set April 6 as the next date to hear the case.
DPP Hakim Amir Abdul Hamid appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by lawyer Suraj Singh, one of the organisers of the dinner function.
Chong had previously alleged that the suspect groped her twice during the Criminal Lawyers' Annual dinner event and that her warnings were ignored.
Following a police report over the matter, Petaling Jaya police arrested the alleged suspect and opened investigations under section 354 of the Penal Code for assault with intent to outrage modesty and section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person.
