CM, Penang excos to donate one month’s pay to Covid-19 fund

Penang's decision comes after Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet decided to contribute two months’ worth of their salaries to Tabung Covid-19 to help combat the deadly virus.
Meanwhile, according to Chow, the police had reported that Penangites' compliance to the movement control order (MCO) has hit 94 percent.
"Thank you to everyone for the effort, we need to be further committed to reach 100 percent compliance to the MCO," he said during his daily Facebook live press conference from his office in Komtar.
Meanwhile, Chow responded to issues raised regarding the RM1,000 special aid to mosques and RM500 to surau for cleaning and sanitisation purposes.
"The move follows the possibility of infected victims coming from the Sri Petaling cluster," Chow said.
"I am sure that the people, regardless of race and religion, understand the situation," he added.
"Do not ever allow irresponsible quarters to play up racial and religious sentiments during these critical times," he stressed.
Malaysia has recorded several deaths from the Tabligh cluster, as 3,000 over possible victims are being tracked to be scanned for infections.
Chow said non-Islamic institutions that need financial aid to clean and sanitise their premises, can apply for the facility via their elected representatives.
As of yesterday, there were 2,031 cases of Covid-19 in the country, where 45 remain in ICU, while 32 required breathing assistance.
There have been 215 recoveries and 24 deaths.
