Prevent leakage in channelling of aid - Raja Muda Perlis

CORONAVIRUS | The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail reminded all quarters to prevent leakage in the channelling of aid during the Covid-19 infection and the movement control order (MCO) so that the benefits can be optimised for the target groups.

“The aid provided will only be of benefit when it is handled honestly by those entrusted to manage the distribution.

“Apart from that, those who are entrusted (to manage the distribution) should also use their wisdom in discharging their responsibility so that no group is left behind," he said in a press statement issued by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) today.

Tuanku Syed, who is MAIPS president, said he was grateful for the contributions by all quarters, both government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), as well as corporations, as they facilitated procedures to help those in need.

“Let no one take advantage of the situation with actions that can undermine transparency. For recipients of the aid, make sure that they are the ones who really need it so that the aid gets to only those who are eligible,” he added.

For the record, as of March 29, MAIPs has announced eight initiatives worth RM4.5 million to help the people who are adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. - Bernama
