Covid-19: 19 new infections, no deaths

CORONAVIRUS | There were 19 new infections of Covid-19 today, bringing the total to 8,322.

There were also 39 recoveries, with the total at 6,674. This means active infections are at 1,531.

Of the new infections, six were imported cases.

Of the local infections, 11 were Malaysians, and two were non-Malaysian citizens.

Of the 11 Malaysian cases, two were from a rehabilitation centre in Dengkil, a tahfiz madrasah (2), a police detainee in Sabak Bernam, and a screened worker in Klang.

There were two cases in Kuala Lumpur, one from the Cheras apartments cluster, and one from a new cluster in Gombak.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cluster involved the Gombak district police headquarters. The new case was a close contact of Patients 7,064 and 7,246.

The Gombak cluster has five cases in total at present.

Meanwhile, there was a positive case from a screened factory worker in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, and two new cases in Sabah who were familial contacts with Patients 3,641 and 4,537.

On the immigration depots where there was a recent outbreak, all test results have been released and there were no new cases reported today.

Five of the active cases were in ICU, with none needing ventilators.

No new deaths were reported with the death toll remaining at 117.

Going forward, Noor Hisham said Malaysians must continue to observe social distancing and good hygiene measures especially when the recovery movement control order starts on June 10.
