A BN lawmaker wants police to investigate alleged spying, a day after leaked recordings from Bersatu's Feb 23 supreme council meeting re-entered the spotlight.
Arau MP Shahidan Kassim said this was a violation of a person’s or groups’ rights.
"I want police to investigate those who violated a person’s and groups’ rights when they were holding a meeting or discussion.
"No one has the right to spy on someone else's private affairs," he said at a press conference in the Parliament lobby today.
Yesterday, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh had tried to play a recording allegedly of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin saying Umno MPs can be enticed to join Bersatu if they are offered ministerships or posts in government-linked companies (GLCs).
In that recording, the man whose voice resembles Muhyiddin's said: "If they know a new government is being formed, with Umno in, 'Why don't you (Umno MPs) join in now, why don't you join us now, rather than you join later?'
"I think if we did that, a majority will leave Umno (with just) 10-20 (MPs), with just Najib (Abdul Razak) and his people (left behind).
"Especially if there are positions. If not a minister, then chairperson of a GLC."
Shahidan yesterday likened the leak to the Watergate scandal.
In his press conference today, the Arau MP said discussions do not mean that what was said was acted on.
