The public can now view asset declarations made by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and other members of his administration on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)'s relaunched portal.

The MACC in a statement said it has to date received and displayed declarations made by 57 out of 70 members of the administration, comprising the prime minister, senior ministers, ministers, and deputy ministers.

"The MACC will not be accountable for information on assets declared, obtained, or taken from any other source than the portal," it said.

Meanwhile, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, in welcoming the move, noted that it was a continuation of the previous Pakatan Harapan government's pledge towards a clean and transparent administration.

He, however, noted a difference in the approach taken by the current government, with less information made available for public viewing.

"Firstly, all of Harapan's ministers and MPs had declared their assets. This is not the case now, with only Perikatan Nasional (PN) ministers making their declarations," he said.

"Secondly, assets of Harapan ministers were transparently declared, while (assets of) PN ministers were only categorically included," Sim added.

A previous version of the portal, first launched during Harapan's tenure in power, had included an absolute amount for each individual's total monthly income and total assets declared.

Meanwhile, the relaunched version maintained the individual's total monthly income, but their total assets were stated as an amount range.

It was previously stated that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad had declared total assets of RM32,357,900 while the current site showed Muhyiddin's total declared assets as "> 10 juta", meaning a sum greater than RM10 million.

"So this declaration is nothing more than to state the amount of monthly salary, which is already public knowledge.

"In light of these differences, we will let the wise rakyat judge in terms of good governance and transparency," said Sim.
