PARLIAMENT | Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Willie Mongin said the government will promote the "Sawit Anugerah Tuhan" slogan internationally, translated to English as "It's God's gift".
"It is true we will promote our slogan 'Sawit Anugerah Tuhan'. If translated to English, it will be 'It's God's gift," he told the Dewan Rakyat today.
Willie was responding to a follow-up question from Khoo Poay Tiong (Kota Melaka-DAP) who asked if the ministry intended to use the "Sawit Anugerah Tuhan" internationally, particularly against the anti-palm oil campaign in Europe.
Under the previous Pakatan Harapan government, the palm oil campaign used the slogan "LoveMyPalmOil".
This was changed to "Sawit Anugerah Tuhan" after the new Perikatan Nasional government took over in March.
The opposition has questioned its suitability as the campaign would include an international audience.
Willie, in his response during Question Time, assured it could be done.
"To answer your question, we will indeed advocate (the new slogan) and believe the government is determined to have a new slogan not only for within the country but also abroad," he said.
Earlier, Willie said the government was working to stabilise the price of palm oil fruit and also expand its domestic downstream uses.
He also said the government was actively promoting palm oil abroad.
"We want the whole world to know that oil palm is God's gift and we have brought palm oil to every corner of the world including promotions in the Middle East and Africa," he said.
