SLIM POLLS | Acting Tanjung Malim Umno division chief Mohd Zaidi Aziz has been tipped to be the possible BN's candidate for the upcoming Slim state seat by-election.
Sources in Umno said Zaidi is the favourite among the seven shortlisted candidates for the state constituency.

Sources in Umno said Zaidi is the favourite among the seven shortlisted candidates for the state constituency.
"He is the big brother at the division who is entrusted to lead the division. He is Mr Cool and a nice guy indeed.
"Definitely he is qualified to be the candidate if taken into consideration of his position. He is the right candidate for Slim," a source told Malaysiakini.
Zaidi was appointed as the acting division chief following the demise of division president and four-term Slim state assemblyperson Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib, 59.
Khusairi passed away on July 15 due to a cardiac arrest.
The by-election will be held on Aug 29, with nominations on Aug 15.
Other shortlisted candidates included Tanjung Malim division vice-chief Mohamad Hatta Lodin and secretary Sulong Jamil Mohamed Shariff.
Sulong is also seen as a good choice as he is the National Felda Settlers chief and Slim is the home to three Felda settlements.
So, Sulong is a household brand to the voters in the Felda which could be seen as securing votes for BN, according to the source.
Salina Samsudin is the only female candidate in the list. She is the division wanita chief and wife to Sulong.
Other shortlisted candidates are division committee members Rosli Mohd Salleh, Ku Zaharin Ku Mansor and Youth wing chief Mohamad Amin Than.
Pakatan Harapan agreed to make way for Dr Mahathir Mohamad's Bersatu faction to contest in the by-election.
In the 2018 general election, Khusairi won the Slim seat defeating Bersatu’s candidate Mohd Amran Ibrahim and PAS’ candidate Muhammad Zulfadli Zainal, by a majority of 2,183 votes.
