KINIGUIDE | The Slim by-election is set to see heavily-favoured Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz take on independent Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi.

Mohd Zaidi is from Umno, while Amir Khusyairi is backed by Dr Mahathir Mohamad's newly-formed Parti Pejuang Tanah Air.

However, the nominations today saw another independent candidate enter the fray making it a three-cornered fight.

There were two other aspiring independent candidates, but they were unable to submit their nomination papers in time.
