PAS Youth is calling on the Perikatan Nasional government to recall its envoy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the middle eastern nation normalised ties with Israel.
PAS Youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin described UAE's normalisation of ties with Israel as a "betrayal to Muslims". He also described Israel as an "enemy of Islam".
"This betrayal must be opposed by all Muslim nations including Malaysia.
PAS Youth asks that the Malaysian government condemns UAE and recalls its envoy to the UAE as a protest against the betrayal," he said in a statement.
Khairil took issue with the continued Israeli occupation of Palestine.
"It is unfathomable for a right-thinking mind that UAE which is led by Muslim leaders and has a Muslim-majority population would shake hands with leaders of the Israeli and Zionist regime whose hands are tainted with the blood and tears of Palestinians.
"Is the UAE not sensitive towards their Muslim brethren who have long been oppressed and denied their right by the enemy of Islam?" he said.
Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein had yesterday said UAE's decision to normalise ties with Israel was its sovereign right.
Hishammuddin, in a statement today, reiterated Malaysia's position on UAE's move.
"However, Malaysia's position on the Palestinian issue remains consistent. Malaysia rejects the illegal and unilateral plan by the Israeli regime to annex part of the Palestinian territory in the West Bank.
"Malaysia, which does not have diplomatic relation with Israel, also reiterates its long-held position that the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine is the only solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict," he said.
Hishammuddin said Malaysia will support efforts, particularly negotiations, for a fair and lasting solution to the conflict based on the United Nations resolutions on the matter.
