Zahid assures political appointments for Umno, PAS if BN wins in Sabah

SABAH POLLS | Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has assured that Umno and PAS leaders will be given political appointments should BN win in Sabah.
This came after Umno conceded seats to its Perikatan Nasional allies for the state election while PAS found itself without any.
In a Berita Harian report on his stump for BN in Tawau last night, Zahid said he recognised there was discontent among grassroots members.
“Of course I can feel the disappointment.
“There are a few appointments that we will give to Sabah leaders if we manage to win the seats we contest. God-willing, these appointments will be given to Sabah Umno leaders, including those from PAS.
“We will discuss with our friends in PN so that places can be given to other friends from component parties,” he was quoted as saying.
His comments were reportedly in response to a question on why only one Wanita Umno candidate was fielded in the 73 seats up for grabs.

Zahid added that Sabah Umno had the autonomy to decide candidate selections.
Despite calling themselves the “Gabungan Rakyat Sabah” pact, BN, PN and PBS are clashing in 17 seats.
The three entities are also campaigning and contesting using their respective logos.
BN to launch manifesto
During the “Radu Kukusan Tanjung Batu” event, Zahid announced that BN will be unveiling its manifesto today, four days after the campaign period began.
According to the article, those in attendance included Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa and two Umno candidates - Chaya Sulaiman (Kukusan) and Andi Muhammad Surayadi Bandi (Tanjong Batu).
Zahid teased that the document will include the coalition’s proposals for development, education and the economy.
“Not only does it lean towards restoring the Sabah people’s interests as noted in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), but there are also new things that in my opinion will bring new hope to Sabahans.
“God-willing, BN will offer these new offerings together with our partners and once again form government in Sabah,” he was quoted as saying.
