Claiming to have the backing of more than 120 MPs, the opposition leader said he submitted statutory declarations and confirmations from party leaders as well.
"I appeal to all to give His Majesty space to carry out his responsibilities...
"(His Majesty) will summon the heads of parties over the next day or two," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
Earlier, Anwar was granted an audience with the Agong at Istana Negara.
"The King assured me in no uncertain terms that he will respect the constitution. I had also reiterated that he had the discretion.
"He should be given adequate time to study and digest the papers and consult the other party leaders," he said in response to a question.
'Not the time to celebrate'
Anwar urged all Malaysians and politicians to be patient and allow the Agong to make a decision "in the best interest" of the country.
"Now is not the time for celebrations. There are no winners or losers today. The real victory is when we are successful in making Malaysia a progressive, prosperous, fair and harmonious country for all her citizens.
"Let us work sincerely together to rebuild our beloved country. Now is not the time to spread false information and rumours.
"Lastly, I pray that the Covid-19 pandemic can be defeated, all Malaysians are safe, and our economy recovers. I would like to request everyone to stay calm and follow all SOPs by the authorities so that we can overcome this pandemic," he added.
Anwar said the current government lacked a clear definitive plan of action to revive the economy in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following Anwar's press conference, Istana Negara clarified that the PKR president had only stated the number of MPs who supported him but did not provide a list of names to back up his claim.
