Bukit Gasing assemblyperson Rajiv Rishyakaran has launched an initiative today to subsidise the cost of Covid-19 testing for Bukit Gasing residents.
The residents will only have to pay RM60 per test, using the Rapid Antigen Test kit.
The initiative came amidst a surge of coronavirus cases in the Petaling district as well as nationwide. There are currently about 377 active cases in the district.
"In the previous months, I have been objecting to the price of testing. For the last six weeks, worry has started growing because of a spike in Covid-19 cases.
"The Health Ministry limits testing only to close contacts who fulfil certain requirements.
"We are doing this initiative to allow those who suspect they have had close contact or present symptoms to get themselves tested immediately and affordably," he said.
Rajiv urged residents to take advantage of the initiative, especially since there are many asymptomatic cases.
"By testing, we can minimise the further spread (of the virus)," he added.
Those who are interested can send a photo of their identification card via WhatsApp to 016 3064101. The testing will be done by appointment only.
