More than 10,000 Orang Asli people living in 18 villages in Lojing, Gua Musang have decided not to allow outsiders to enter their villages in an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lojing Orang Asli Tok Batin and Penghulu Council head Bidi Ronggeng (above) said a total of six Orang Asli community leaders from the Temiar ethnic group, representing all the villagers, agreed to the matter recently.

"We will only allow authorities such as the Department of Orang Asli Development, Health Department and police. Any outsiders who want to enter need to get permission from the authorities first," he told reporters recently.

Meanwhile, Kampung Pos Brooke Security Development Committee chairman Kamal Rami has urged outsiders not to visit their villages at this time.

"If you want to visit us, wait until everything is back to normal," he said.
