Yesterday, the foundation’s legal officer, Mohd Fadzil Ab Hamid, was quoted in Wilayah Ku - a website owned by the foundation - as disputing the findings from PAC’s probe into the sale of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) land.
Contrary to the PAC’s suggestions of irregularities, Fadzil said the foundation had purchased two plots of DBKL land at market rate.
He also refuted any existence of “political influence” within the charity.
Fadzil further said the Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan was overseen by its chairperson - the Federal Territories Minister.
This is after the PAC expressed concern over the lack of government oversight and recommended that the foundation be turned into a statutory body to enable auditing.
PAC: We probe without prejudice
In a statement today, the PAC said it viewed the foundation’s response as a threat.
“The PAC collectively characterises the statement as something uncalled for and an attempt to challenge and violate the integrity of the institution of Parliament.
“All allegations against the report are baseless. The PAC has conducted its investigations in all issues without prejudice against anyone,” it said.
The PAC is a bipartisan committee chaired by an opposition MP.
“The PAC will not bow to allegations or threats by anyone in its efforts to conduct its responsibilities as a standing committee that is provided for by the country’s laws,” it added.
Earlier today, Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said he would consider the PAC’s latest recommendations.
However, Annuar dismissed the committee’s concerns over the foundation - of which he is the chairperson.
