Michelle Yeoh confirmed among cast in Marvel's 'Shang-Chi'

Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed to be among the cast of next year's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Disney officially announced Thursday that Michelle Yeoh will be appearing in Marvel’s Shang-Chi, which stars Simu Liu as the classic comic-book martial artist. The movie will premiere on July 9, 2021.
Yeoh, who is currently starring in Star Trek: Discovery is set to reunite with Crazy Rich Asians co-stars Awkwafina and Malaysian-born comedian Ronny Chieng, who were previously confirmed to star alongside Liu.
Yeoh will be playing a character named Jiang Nan.
Ipoh-born Yeoh is best known internationally for her roles in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), martial arts film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) and Aung San Suu Kyi biopic The Lady (2011).
Filming on Shang-Chi was completed earlier this year after production shut down briefly due to Covid-19.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie will mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduction of Shang-Chi, an expert fighter and martial artist who made his comics debut in 1973.
The movie will also feature Tony Leung as the Mandarin, the legendary Marvel villain who leads the terrorist organisation the Ten Rings.
