S'gor PKR Youth urges Akmal Nasir to explain conversation that 'insulted' Anwar

Selangor PKR Youth said it is still awaiting an explanation from the national PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir over the screenshots of an alleged text conversation between several of its leaders which supposedly “insulted” their party president Anwar Ibrahim.

Selangor PKR Youth communications director Mohd Khairool Ngadon also clarified that a viral message of a statement purportedly from its chief, Najwan Halimi regarding this issue is a false statement.

“Selangor PKR Youth takes note that there is a viral picture of a statement supposedly from Selangor PKR Youth chief Najwan regarding the issue of several screenshots of a WhatsApp group ‘AMK Bersih’ which displayed cynical language and was insulting the PKR president in a conversation.

“We would like to clarify here that (the statement) is false and is not the true stance of our chief and the entire Selangor PKR Youth leadership.

“However, we are still waiting for the real explanation from Akmal on this matter.

“Selangor PKR Youth continues to be committed to fully supporting the leadership of our president Anwar and will not compromise even once on any subversive attempts to belittle his character,” said Mohd Khairool in a statement today.

A picture of a statement falsely credited to Najwan had spread on social media last night, with the statement calling out Akmal’s purported conversation with several other PKR Youth leaders as “going overboard”.

The statement had also claimed that those who insulted Anwar “cannot be accepted” by those who have stood by the PKR president’s fight for so long.

Earlier, there had also been a fake invitation to a press conference by Anwar tomorrow which was supposedly sent out by PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi has since denied sending out an invitation and said it was a fake.

The Malaysian Insight reported yesterday that screenshots of a purported conversation between Akmal and several other PKR Youth leaders making disparaging remarks about Anwar had been leaked.

There have been calls by several PKR Youth divisions for action to be taken against Akmal over this incident, including some calling for him to resign.
