COVID-19 | Glovemaker Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd said the Covid-19 outbreak at its facility in Klang has grown to almost 1,000 cases.
In a statement today, the company said 990 cases have been detected as of yesterday.
This came after screening over 8,000 employees at all its nine plant premises and three corporate premises. The factory at Meru, Klang is the only one affected.
“The employees in the affected plant premise are still undergoing quarantine... the plant premise is undergoing an extension of closure expected to be until Dec 30...
“Once again, we would like to assure all interested parties that the company views the pandemic and public health situations seriously, and the health and safety of all our employees are of utmost concern,” it added.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry figures showed that the Jalan Putus cluster - which is linked to the outbreak at Kossan - has 990 cases as of yesterday.
However, another four cases have been detected today bringing the total to 994. Of these, 10 have recovered so far.
The ministry reported the Jalan Putus cluster two weeks ago, saying that it was detected through workplace screening.
By Dec 16, it was reported that 427 cases have been detected, but a 14-day closure of the facility would only impact about one percent of total annual output and two percent of annual earnings.
