PKR Youth to Public Works Dept: Be fair, say sorry to other road users

It's not fair for the Kuala Langat Public Works Department to issue an apology only when accident victims are ministers, said Kuala Langat PKR Youth.

Its chief, Mohd Shah Rezza Mohd Tuniman, said the District Works Ddepartment should be fair and apologise to all road users who have been involved in accidents due to potholes.

The department yesterday apologised to Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin when he was injured after hitting a pothole in Banting, Selangor.

"The Kuala Langat Public Works Department should be fair and apologise to other road users who had been involved in accidents. In fact, there were fatal incidents due to its recklessness.

"There are many potholes under its watch and was the intention to apologise only after an accident involved a minister?" Mohd Shah in a statement asked in a statement.

Yesterday, Khairy fell from his bicycle after allegedly hitting a pothole. He sustained injuries to his face.

Following that, the District Works Department issued an apology via Twitter.

"Hulu Langat Works Department would like to apologise over the incident which involved the minister and will take immediate action on the matter, and pray that YB will get better soon," the tweet read.

Mohd Shah also advised the department to stop being biased in dealing with road users.

"The marhaen (ordinary people) pay road tax every year and (the Public Works Department) keeps mum when they are involved in accidents," he said.
