This follows a statement from the palace announcing that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has consented to the government's request based on Clause (1) Article 150 of the Federal Constitution.
His Majesty also gave his consent for this period of emergency to take effect until Aug 1, 2021, or an earlier date if the number of daily Covid-19 figures can be effectively controlled and lowered.
The King previously consented to declare a state of emergency in Batu Sapi and Bugaya in Sabah, as well as Gerik, Perak, to postpone by-elections due to be called in the three constituencies.
At the time, Muhyiddin said the lives of the people will not be affected by the declaration of an emergency as there will be no curfew or military-style administration in place.
