COVID-19 | Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin is the third cabinet member to be diagnosed with Covid-19 this month.

Hamzah's office, in a statement, said the minister took a test yesterday and his results returned positive.

It urged all of his close contacts between Jan 8 and 11 to get tested.

"Throughout the treatment and quarantine period, Hamzah will continue to monitor and ensure that the ministry functions smoothly," the statement read.

The entire cabinet had gone for a Covid-19 test after two other ministers became infected.

On Jan 10, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mustapa Mohamed's office confirmed he contracted the coronavirus.

A day later, Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Rina Harun's office confirmed she was down with Covid-19 as well.

Health Minister Dr Adham Baba was quoted by Bernama as saying that apart from the three ministers, all other cabinet members tested negative for the disease.

To date, a total of four ministers have caught the virus.

In October last year, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri also tested positive for Covid-19.
