Malaysia will once again become a high-tech investment focus destination when it will soon receive investment from a foreign company for the production of luxury cars.
International Trade and Industry Ministry Azmin Ali said he, however, could not disclose the name of the company but the company has agreed to open its first overseas plant in Malaysia.
“This is about precision engineering which means that one of the most expensive carmakers in the world will be in Malaysia,” he said during a question and answer session at the Selangor state level Rapat Malaysia Prihatin programme today.
He said there are Asean countries that have a big population and could attract investments that are labour intensive.
“But Malaysia can’t offer that, so we must ensure our human capital have high-quality technological skills to move forward,” he added.
